The glass is first hand-blown in Murano; once cooled, it is cold-carved on the grinding wheel, a technique we call \u003cem\u003emolatura\u003c\/em\u003e. Onde is the name of this carving: long, flowing ridges that wind horizontally around the vase, like the ripples of the lagoon. The cuts rise and fall, meet and split, so the surface seems set in motion. Each wave is cut by hand and no two are alike. The satin finish and soft edges catch the light, letting the Oceano shade deepen in the hollows and glow on the crests.
