Bocia Rosé Coste Small

We call this vase Bocia, a word from the Venetian dialect meaning "small". The vase is first hand-blown in Murano, giving it its round, harmonious shape. Once cooled, the glass is cold-carved on the grinding wheel, a technique we call molatura. Coste is the name of this carving: deep, vertical cuts that run along the body of the vase like ribs, creating a rhythmic, tactile surface. The carved surface is then polished, and it is thanks to this process that the warm, delicate pink takes on a more vivid, faceted depth, with unexpected shades of colour and reflections of light. This vase is handcrafted and signed.

Slight variations may occur due to the artisanal process.

Care: clean with a damp cloth. If the water leaves a mark, a little vinegar on the cloth will remove it.

ABOUT THE TECHNIQUE

Cold Carving

The cold carving technique, Molatura, takes its name from the grinding wheel used to carve the cold glass, which in Italian is called "Mola".

Usually cold carving is process used to get rid of the cutting edges of the glass during the finishing phase, but can also be used as decorative tool. The different carvings make the tactile experience one of a kind, also allowing the light to play with the glass surfaces, reflecting colours in a unique way.
