Goccia Ambra Alghe Large
Inspired by the ancient amphorae, this vase resembles the elongated form of a drop, Goccia in Italian. The glass is first hand-blown in Murano; once cooled, it is cold-carved on the grinding wheel, a technique we call molatura. Alghe is the name of this carving, a vertical counterpart of Onde: fine, flowing lines rise along the vase, curving, crossing and merging like the seaweed of the lagoon, swayed by the waves and the current. Each line is cut by hand and no two are alike. The satin grooves catch the light and let the Ambra shade glow from within. This vase is handcrafted and signed.
Slight variations may occur due to the artisanal process.

Care: clean with a damp cloth. If the water leaves a mark, a little vinegar on the cloth will remove it.

ABOUT THE TECHNIQUE
Cold Carving
The cold carving technique, Molatura, takes its name from the grinding wheel used to carve the cold glass, which in Italian is called "Mola".
Usually cold carving is process used to get rid of the cutting edges of the glass during the finishing phase, but can also be used as decorative tool. The different carvings make the tactile experience one of a kind, also allowing the light to play with the glass surfaces, reflecting colours in a unique way.
